Tragedy Strikes Chavat Galli Early Tuesday
Four members of a single family died and two others sustained severe injuries early Tuesday morning after a refrigerator exploded inside a residential home in Belagavi, Karnataka, according to local police reports. The blast, which occurred between 2:15 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., triggered a rapid fire that trapped the occupants and heavily damaged the property located in the Chavat Galli area near the Central Bus Stand.
Local authorities and emergency responders rushed to the scene following distress calls from neighbors. Investigators have launched a formal inquiry to determine the exact cause of the accident, with preliminary assessments pointing toward a potential electrical short circuit or power overload linked to the appliance.
Victims and Condition of the Injured
According to police and district reports, the four deceased individuals have been identified as 65-year-old Gajanan Dhamone, 21-year-old Roshan Dhamone, 45-year-old Sharada Dhamone, and 50-year-old Bharati Dhamone. The force of the explosion and the subsequent flames overwhelmed the home before residents could safely evacuate.
Two other members of the Dhamone family survived the initial blast but suffered critical injuries. Ganga Dhamone and Priya Dhamone were pulled from the wreckage and transferred to a nearby medical facility. Hospital officials reported that both individuals sustained severe burn injuries affecting roughly 60 to 80 percent of their bodies and remain under intensive medical care.
Investigation and Local Response
Local law enforcement agencies have registered a case regarding the incident and are working alongside forensic experts to examine the remains of the appliance. Investigators are reviewing electrical lines and household wiring to establish whether a mechanical failure or external power fluctuation caused the compressor or internal components to rupture.
The incident has drawn local officials and police leadership to the site for inspections as the community responds to the sudden loss. Further updates on the condition of the survivors and the findings of the forensic investigation are expected as authorities continue their work.
