Police in Incheon are pursuing a formal arrest warrant for a 59-year-old man following a stabbing rampage at a commercial complex that left nine people injured, authorities said. The attack occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the Guwol-dong district of Namdong-gu.

According to the Namdong Police Station, the suspect—identified by authorities only by his surname, Choi—moved through multiple zones of the building, including a supermarket, a food court, and upper-level commercial spaces, targeting victims at random. Shoppers and store employees intervened to subdue the assailant before law enforcement officers arrived and arrested him at the scene.

Medical personnel confirmed that a total of nine individuals sustained injuries during the incident. Among them, a woman in her 20s suffered a cardiac arrest at the scene. Her pulse was restored following emergency surgery, but she remained unconscious and in intensive care as of Wednesday, October 14.

The remaining eight victims, consisting of men and women ranging in age from their 20s to their 50s, sustained injuries to their arms, shoulders, and backs. Hospital officials reported that none of their injuries were considered life-threatening.
