According to shipping observations and defense reports, the USS George Washington departed Da Nang, Vietnam, and was recently tracked transiting the Singapore Strait accompanied by a cruiser and a destroyer. The Wall Street Journal reported that the vessel is slated to take over duties from the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has remained stationed in the region as part of the U.S. naval posture.
The rotation comes on the heels of mounting public concern over the conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. The carrier has recorded an uninterrupted deployment exceeding 260 days—stretching over roughly nine months since it left port in November 2025. U.S. Central Command stated on Thursday that allegations regarding sailor fatalities from brawls or a surge in suicides were false.
