In Kyiv itself, officials confirmed that at least eight people were killed. In the surrounding Kyiv region, another four fatalities were recorded, including in Boryspil, where regional prosecutors reported that a residential building was severely damaged.
President Zelenskyy stated that the overnight offensive caused casualties across the broader country, noting that an Indian citizen was among the 12 total individuals killed nationwide. Dozens of others sustained injuries ranging from shrapnel wounds to blast trauma, with emergency crews working through the night to pull survivors from rubble and extinguish fires.
Infrastructure and Escalation Details
Beyond residential zones, the aerial bombardment targeted transit networks. Ukrainian officials reported that a rail depot and other civilian infrastructure elements were directly hit during the assault, disrupting local operations.
The latest bombardment follows a pattern of heightened aerial activity over the capital. Reporting from Reuters noted that the overnight attack constituted the sixth consecutive day of strikes targeting the Kyiv capital area, highlighting an intensified campaign against the region. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and regional prosecutors confirmed that multiple districts incurred structural harm, prompting renewed calls from Ukrainian leadership for enhanced air defense capabilities and specialized interceptor systems to protect urban centers.
