Atlanta Dream face major roster hurdle ahead of Game 2 WNBA semifinals clash against New York Liberty

The Atlanta Dream enter Game 2 of their WNBA semifinals series against the New York Liberty facing a significant personnel challenge. The team confirmed that leading regular-season scorer Allisha Gray has been ruled out for Wednesday night's matchup due to a left-hand injury.

Gray, a four-time All-Star, sustained the injury during the first quarter of Game 1 on October 4 when she attempted a defensive deflection. Despite her early exit, the Dream secured a 92-82 victory in Atlanta to claim a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Wednesday's contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia, with a national broadcast on ESPN. A victory by the visiting Liberty would even the series before it shifts to Brooklyn, while a win by the Dream would place them one triumph away from the WNBA Finals.

The absence of Gray places heightened expectations on the rest of the Atlanta rotation. In the series opener, guard Jordin Canada stepped up with 25 points, while veteran reserve DeWanna Bonner contributed 23 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. The pair combined for 48 points after Gray left the floor, sustaining the offensive momentum required to overcome a 27-point performance from New York's Sabrina Ionescu and a combined 46-point effort from Ionescu and Breanna Stewart.

Outside of the immediate playoff pressure, the franchise announced off-the-court developments concerning its future venue operations. The Dream confirmed that they will play all home games at State Farm Arena beginning with the 2027 season, following a multiyear agreement with the downtown venue. The arena previously hosted five regular-season contests as well as Atlanta's quarterfinal and semifinal playoff games in 2026.
