The disciplinary decision arrived alongside public statements from USC head coach Lincoln Riley and Stephens himself, addressing both the hit and subsequent on-field reactions. Stephens issued an apology acknowledging that his conduct following the play was inappropriate. “Desman's actions in last night's game are unacceptable and are not reflective of USC Football nor of his personal character,” Riley said in a statement released Sunday. “He understands his mistake, accepts the consequences of his actions and will learn from this. The Incident on the Field

Medical personnel fitted Moore with a neck brace and placed him on a stretcher before transporting him to Los Angeles General Medical Center.
