Russia Reports Massive Overnight Drone Interceptions as Fire Breaks Out at Moscow-Region Fuel Depot

Russian authorities stated that air defense systems intercepted one of the largest drone assaults of the conflict overnight into Tuesday, destroying hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles targeting Russian territory, Crimea, and the Sea of Azov. The nationwide total reached 868 drones destroyed, according to figures released by Russia's Defense Ministry.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin provided specific figures for the capital area, reporting that 650 drones headed toward the Moscow region between late Monday evening and early Tuesday morning. According to the mayor's breakdown, 105 of those incoming units were shot down as they approached the capital.

Despite the high volume of intercepted aircraft near the city, Russian officials stated that no significant structural damage or casualties were recorded within Moscow proper. However, reports emerged of a major fire at an industrial energy facility outside the city limits.

Open-source intelligence analysis and regional footage pointed to a large-scale fire at the Volodarskaya linear production and dispatch station, identified in reports as the Moscow region's largest oil depot. The facility is located near the village of Konstantinovo in the Ramensky district. Russian authorities did not publicly acknowledge the specific cause of the blaze or confirm the extent of the damage at the site.

Casualty accounts from the broader overnight barrage included two deaths in the Moscow region, which were officially confirmed by Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov and independent wire reports.

The latest wave of aerial activity underscores an escalation in long-range drone deployment affecting central Russian infrastructure hubs. Defense authorities continue to assess the full scope of the multi-region assault as recovery and monitoring operations proceed at affected sites.
